I am a member of this club at my college called the Delta Leadership Society. It’s a club that does charities and community service and the such. For six years now, we have raised money and walked for the Light the Night. The Light the Night walk is a walk that is done by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. For those that don’t know, those are cancers of the blood. There are two reasons why I am writing about this in the first place. The first is that, since I want to be a doctor, I am compelled to try and save lives no matter what. This is a chance for me to do just that. I will tell you a story in a moment. The second is that my friend has Leukemia and every dollar that is raised, I feel we are one step closer to maybe one day really beating it.

Now, I want to tell you what your money would go towards. Last year, we raised six thousand dollars. With that money, the Leukemia and Lymphoma society was able to get a drug through trials and clinicals and get it onto the shelves for patients. Chronic myelogenous leukemia cannot be cured. It can be suppressed, but once a patient has it, it cannot be cured. With this money that we all raised, it went towards getting that drug approved. The patient took the drug and a week later, his bone marrow was tested. There was no leukemia in his body. He was cured. That’s what the money did. It cured someone. It saved a life.

Now, I am asking my fellow bloggers and my fellow webmasters and my family and my friends to step up and take a small amount of your great earnings and donate it to a good cause. I have a goal of raising $1,000. I am hoping, of course, that with the help of my fellow webmasters, $1,000 will really become $2,000 or even more. I don’t know what to expect from my fellow bloggers, but I know that everyone has probably met someone with Leukemia. Every ten minutes, someone dies from cancer. Maybe your donation can change that.

It takes a lot out of me to write these blog posts. Buy me a beer to cool me off!
