Don’t Give Up
Information May 20th, 2007One of the big things that I’ve found about blogs is that people give up because they are not earning money or they are not getting a lot of comments or something along these lines. I’ve even had thoughts of giving up because it just seems like it’d be easier to give up instead of continuing on posting on a blog that no one comments on and no one clicks the ads. That’s what I was thinking about two months ago. It just seemed that no one was interested in what I was saying and after a while, it became extremely demoralizing. It really beat me down. Then one of my most loyal readers started to comment on a regular basis and well…It really was a morale raiser.
Find something that motivates you. As I mentioned in my post about what gives you motivation, I gain my morale knowing that there are others who I call friends that are making money. It really can help you to keep writing when you see someone else is doing good because you know that they are just like you. My friend David is getting married soon. He’s a recent graduate from college and he works a normal job. He, like me, hopes to make money online. Whenever I see that he is making a lot of money, it motivates me to work harder to work.
The moral that I am trying to teach you here is NOT to give up. No matter how hard it gets and no matter how tiring it becomes and above all, no matter how stupid you think it is writing about stuff that you feel no one cares about, don’t give up. Sooner or later, your blog will get known if you continue to work hard on it. Zerotomed.com was nothing when I started it. Hell, even when 2007 started, it was nothing. Only recently has it become something that people know more about. Overall, what I recommend for everyone is to not give up. You’ll realize soon enough that all of your work is definitely worth it. Just don’t give up.
It takes a lot out of me to write these blog posts. Buy me a beer to cool me off!

It’s so true - the surest way to fail is to give up.
When I had just started my blog I wrote a post called Why Write When Nobody Is Reading Your Blog?. It really motives you when you see your RSS subscriber stats increase, when people comment on your posts… But it all takes time.
You just have to look at this as an investment - the time you invest in your blog right now will hopefully benefit you in the future. One trick you might want to try to help increase comments is install the Top Commentators plug-in. That gives people a little more incentive to post comments

I had the Top Commentators plug-in once, but no one commented. I might put it up again. I just think that my sidebar is getting overly polluted, but I will think about editing some of it out probably.

Glad you didn’t give up. As you probably know, I stop by here daily.
