As everyone can see from my last post, February was a good month for me, earning me some nice amounts of money that I intend on using the further the growth of my network. When I say further the growth of my network, I don’t mean get more sites (unless I see one I must have), but I mean that I want to allow my network to grow. This site, SciFreak.com, and ArcadesCentral.com all could use a lot of work to get them up to a respectable level. I don’t intend on making any more sites even though I have the ideas because I do not want to risk getting too stretched. I need to grow slowly, especially since I have my schooling. But! What do I want to do in March to help my network grow? I’ll break it up into sites.
SciFreak.comÂ
For Scifreak, I am going to focus on building the traffic. I was shy of two uniques to get my forum this month, which is alright because it gives me another month to hopefully fly over that 1000 unique mark. What I intend on doing this month is really focusing on getting that traffic. I hope to get content posted more often, but sometimes, I can’t always do that. Having a limited income means that it is difficult getting others to write content and getting myself to write content. I do think, though, that if I were to write more content for the site, I’d see an increase in both profits and traffic.
I need to decide, though, whether I like my ad placement. Currently, all I do is add a ad box in the text. That is good because it’s right there for people to click, but I also think that it would be good if I added an ad box elsewhere. Maybe if I added it to the top of the actual blog or maybe a skyscraper, I might see some more clicks. However, I also need to think about maybe other methods of making money. The blog got some nice traffic, but it’s PR isn’t that great. I might consider selling a blog post sponsorship once a week, but if I did that, I would charge something along the lines of $20.00 for that single link because it is so targeted. And I would only sell to someone with a very similar site to mine.
ArcadesCentral.com
For this site, the entire goal for me is going to be to get traffic growing more. As you could see from the last post, traffic really was great, but for sites like this, they need to be greater. I’d also really love to transfer the site to YPN, but at the same time, I get so few clicks, I wonder how long it’d take for me to get a check from either Adsense or YPN. Maybe when YPN becomes public and more people can start becoming advertisers because there are more publishers, I’ll sign up for all my sites. But, my only fear is that YPN will just start paying just as shitty as Google. I need to think about it for a little while and see what works best. Maybe payment will go up once Google feels the tension from YPN.
Zerotomed.com
This is the only site I had never intended on monetizing and yet I make most of my money from this site. That’s all I can continue doing. I will continue posting once or twice a day and selling links in the hope of making some quick spending cash to grow SciFreak. That’s all this site is good for at the moment, at least when it comes to making money. I don’t intend on making this site into a massive earner with ads everywhere. I want it to be a site that funds my other sites. That’s my main goal for this site. Hopefully this month, I can see myself getting over fifteen hundred uniques so that I can raise the price for a blog post sponsorship.
Everything else:
As you can see, I have a lot of basic, but very important work ahead of me. In a week, I go on Spring Break and that week should really be useful to get my sites large. If I could update SciFreak a few times every day that week, I might really see that traffic I am so desperate to see. I can even begin putting together some plans for my other sites that I mentioned in previous posts. Planning and building are two different things. I might even look into making a partnership with someone I know that knows about science to make these sites. All I can hope for is a successful week once this upcoming one is over. A bunch of late nights, but successful nights of work getting done. Thanks everyone for being so supportive!
It takes a lot out of me to write these blog posts. Buy me a beer to cool me off!
