Domain Parking and Domain Purchase

Network No Comments »

Well, today I decided to go a step further and set up my domain and another domain to be parked. First I’ll talk about the domain that I bought and then talk about the parking. The domain that I chose was www.geneticssource.com because it is a pretty keyword oriented domain and because it sounded pretty good. Granted, there are two s’s in the domain name, but I think that if people really do like the site, they might just bookmark it. Either way, I have a pretty good idea about the domain. I’ll start putting together some plans for it once I know that the site is up and running. Once that occurs and I know what articles were written, I’ll be able to set up the necessary things I need and maybe write a few articles of my own.

So, onto the domain parking…I decided that I would park my domain, www.escaladeclub.com at SEDO. It probably won’t make that much money, but I figure that if I were to make a little bit of money, then it would be better than nothing. I intend on parking a series of domains on there as time goes on and once they make $.40 a day, I will get a site built about them. That will allow for much higher profit once the site appears and I put Adsense onto it. I am anxious to put the sites together, but I want them to be making money when I make them rather than no money. It might not be worth much, but I think that it will help in the long run. Maybe I am wrong though.

Well, it appears that I am beginning to grow. It’s going slow, but soon, I will have a real site that is earning me money. I have the parked domain that will hopefully earn some money for me as well. In the future, I will have numerous sites parked and numerous sites that have content on them. Hopefully together, they will make enough money for me to invest in bigger sites. I will probably stop parking domains someday, but for right now, they host the domains and let them earn money at the same time that I work on other sites. It is an ideal process. I have to get ready to go to my girlfriend’s. Stay tuned for more details.

First site is coming!

Well, I finally buckled down and decided to put a site together.  Well, I am not putting it together, but I will be hosting it and running it and from time to time, adding more and more content to it.  The topic is genetics, something that has always interested me and intrigued me.  I would never want to become a genetisist, but I really do like the thought of it, so I decided to get a site started about it.  All I had to pay was $45.00 for it and it should be done in little over a week.  Yeah, that’s a long time, but once it does get up and running, I really think it might start to make some money.  Now I just have to find a good domain name for it and maybe put together some articles of my own once I know what they are writing about.

I bought a domain name today titled: www.escaladeclub.com.  I am not sure what I plan on doing, but my friend gave me an idea that really was pretty cool.  I’ll park my domain on godaddy or something and pay the $3.99 a month.  Then, I’ll let it get money from revenue sharing.  When I am making about thirty or forty cents a day, I will make the website with content and hopefully see an incredible increase in money.  I really think it’s a good domain name and with the right tweaking and the right SEO, it could really get a high PR and a lot of traffic daily because of the site.  I have some ideas for it and just need to wait for it to get the started traffic as a parked domain.

Other than that, today really wasn’t that productive.  I’ve tried to get some more traffic here because, like I have said before, I plan to use this blog as a hub for all my sites.  I’ll have a link to each of my sites and this’ll allow, hopefully, for more traffic.  And you, as the readers, will get to pick topics that you like to read about since I plan on having so many sites by the time I finish my freshman year.  Will it happen?  I hope so, but you never know these days.  It could happen sooner, but it could also happen much later.  Either way, I really do have a lot planned.  I know that I continue talking about my little ideas in my blog posts, but if you, the readers, want to read about anything in particular, I have no problem doing a little research to answer any questions you might have.  I figure that answering the questions will also teach me a little bit.  Anyways…Sorry the posts have been coming on so late.  I’ll try and get them earlier from now on.  Enjoy your weekend, sort of…

Thoughts of buying a small group of sites…

Network No Comments »

Today I decided that I was going to think about maybe buying a site or two.  I haven’t done it yet, but I do think that if all goes according to plan, I will have three sites in my ‘network’ in the next few days.  It won’t be unique content, but since it’s pretty inexpensive for three sites that auto-update from RSS feeds, then I don’t see why going along with it is a bad idea.  It might not get as much respect from the search engines as the unique content, but people will search it and the domains are pretty nice.  Best part is that it has to do with biology and as an undergrad, I am a biology major.  The topics are pretty interesting, so I can only hope that I can get the sites.

On DigitalPoint, there is this guy that, with the help of his wife, creates complete websites for people.  They’re forty five dollars for twelve 300 word articles and a complete design.  It might seem like a lot of money, but in honest, it’s not that bad.  If I had a larger amount of money to invest, I could get 10 sites for only 300 dollars.  That’s 30 dollars for a complete design and 12 unique articles.  That could really help out my network and it’d be ideal for the growth of it.  Would it make me a lot of money?  Maybe.  I hope that I can pick topics that interest people and that should make for some good sites.

I came to a conclusion today as I was leaving a math review (which, mind you, I finally understand limits and derivatives).  I was always writing on scrap pieces of paper with all my ideas.  But then I would lose the ideas and that would not be good.  Well, I finally went to the campus store and I bought a notebook.  It was two bucks, which is not that bad I guess, but it’ll definitely prove to be useful.  All of my ideas into one book will be a lot better than all my ideas on random scraps of paper.  I highly recommend it to people who are trying to get a bunch of ideas collected into one source.  It’s easy to look back to and lets you know where everything is when you need it.  So, I recommend for every new and old webmaster, that you buy a notebook and carry it around with you so you can write ideas into it when you least expect it.

Stay tuned for information on whether or not I buy the sites.  I’ll be adding the links to the sidebar so that people can see just what sites I own.  Keep reading my blog and hopefully I can finally see some potential growth with my goal from zero to med.  See you around!

Growth of Zero to Med - Adsense Learnings

Network No Comments »

Today has been a rather useless day, at least when it comes to terms of my websites.  Yes, there is nothing going on when it comes to growth other than finalizing of some ideas.  I do plan on making a health website and chances are it’ll be about cancer.  What it’ll be about in exactly, I am not even sure about, but I will ensure that it is full of 100% unique content and has a decent template.  I was never worried so much about a design of a site.  When ever I go to a site, I don’t really look at the template.  I am there to read the content, not to marvel at someone’s HTML and CSS skills.  So, that is why I am alright with simply templates that just relay the information.  I’m not there to see anything but that information.  Anyways…

What DID I do today that allows me to write a blog post?  See in the top right hand corner those few blogroll links?  That’s what I did.  I decided that I should really try and get this blog growing fast in the next two weeks so that I had a source of traffic for my new sites from the start.  It is difficult to get sites started and then get traffic to them from the start.  So, I figure that if I have a blog that has been up for about two weeks that has been getting a slow and gradual increase in unique visitors each day, then maybe when I do write about a site that I have created, everyone will be interested and head over to the site.  Then, I can only hope about the possibility for some clicks in adsense.  All I can hope is that people will be interested in what I write about for my sites.

Today, I read an article about what ads I should block.  I don’t remember whose blog it was, but it was really quite an interesting article.  If I could find it again, I’d definitely bookmark it and then remove those links from my adsense.  When I had a blogger account and got a grand total of $.78 for like 10 posts, I looked at the ads and groaned.  They were ebay ads and things of that nature.  Those make no money.  So, maybe since I have complete control over my sites, I will be able to implement some control over what kind of ads appear.  That should only mean great things.  Hopefully that’ll allow for some quick profit.

I am thinking of allowing people to sponsor blog posts that I make.  Since I post every day, it could make some small amounts of money that could allow for some nice link backs for sites.  However, I don’t know if it would be worth it.  This is, in part, a personal blog, and I might feel bad trying to profit from it.  You don’t come here to read ads.  You come to read about my journey and I’d feel bad for the reader if there were a bunch of links going elsewhere.  So, I’ll have to think about it a little bit.  I might do it, but I might not.  It really does depend on what I feel is right for the readers.  I do write this blog for myself and for the readers.  Maybe you’ll all learn something from me.

In my personal life, well, let’s just say that being a boyfriend to a girl is never easy, especially when the parents don’t exactly like you.  I won’t go into details because it is not important, but I suppose I have to question why they don’t like me.  I’m a respectful person and I am going into a great field.  I guess I am a guy and a girl’s parents liking a guy is an impossible act.  Other than that, I have to say that I am a very busy guy.  I have two ten page lab reports to write, one for Chemistry and one for Biology.  Yet, I find time to write this blog.  See?  I do love my readers!  But, I better get going.  Stay tuned for more information on my slow growth.

More brainstorming.

Network, Personal Life 1 Comment »

As per usual, today was not overly productive, but that’s not because I didn’t want to create sites, but because I am a student. I had to study for a Chemistry test and all of that fun stuff. Boring, yes, I know. Anyways…I’ve decided a few things in this. Firstly, what makes a great professor. Secondly, just how much money I am going to have to make each year and finally, what I actually thought up today for more brainstorming. So, let’s get started.

College Professor:

I know most of you read this blog because you are hoping to read about how I am making so much money. However, I really do have to mention this. I have a professor for Chemistry that gives her entire life to her students. She has to be there at 8:00 AM and at 8:00 PM, she was offering a Chemistry review. She is, without a doubt, the most dedicated person to their field that I have ever met. It’s inspiring to know that someone can love something so much that they devote all of those hours to their work. It encourages me to one day become a great doctor and to even work hard on this specific network that I am going to build. It really makes me feel great to know that there is so much potential; that there is so much I can do if I love something. That brings me to my next point.

Medical School Costs:

So, I was looking at two particular medical schools I wouldn’t mind checking out. The first was NYU and the second was Columbia University. Obviously I want to work in New York City, so going to a university there could really get me the credentials that I need. It might really give me the chance to succeed. But you would not believe the costs. With tuition, room and board, books and supplies, these schools are going to cost a fortune. So, let’s look at each school.

NYU: $54,500 a year.

Columbia:

Year 1: $52,265

Year 2: $53,984

Year 3: $56,620

Year 4: $53,780
As you can see, the cost to go to a well known medical school is obviously out of this world. So, what does that mean? I have to work so much harder if I am going to make that each year to pay for medical school. Imagine having NO bills what so ever? That would really be a great thing, let me tell you. So, that is what my goal is. My goal is to make about $60,000.00 a year through my sites. More is obviously better, but for now, my goal is $60,000.00 a year.

The Network:

So, I’ve had time to think and I began to put a few things together. I have always been greatly interested in organized crime. I’ve thought about putting together a very detailed site about organized crime to offer information. However, I often wonder whether or not it would get that much traffic. I know the word Mafia gets a lot of traffic thanks to The Godfather and stuff, but do you people think that it would be worth it to make a site about that. I have a lot of friends that could write about that particular topic, but I wonder if it would make any money. So, I thought I would ask my readers. Why do I tell you about a specific idea? Why am I not afraid if you’ll steal the idea? Because this topic takes a lot of research and I know a lot more than most people, which is why I am not afraid to talk about it. I guess it’s a slight ego. But, do you think it’ll make money or do you think it’s just one of those ‘passionate’ sites that make little to no money. Let me know in a comment.

Now…What did I do today in relation to my sites? I’ve decided that I am going to need some more start up money. So, I decided to do some paid posting. I did some posting on this Halo forum to get $25.00 and I started posting on this webmasters forum in the hopes of getting some small money. It’s not much, but it could pay for two or three domain names or maybe a template or even a couple of articles. Having the extra money to put towards the websites allows for more to get done in a faster time. I have no problem spending money to make money, but I only do it on things I know will turn around. I suppose that’s why I’ve never made a purchase of a site. It always worried me that there wouldn’t be a return, which means I don’t know enough about it.

Thanksgiving Break is coming up and I have some decent plans. I hope to maybe get a domain name and hopefully a template started by then. If I get that, I can start collecting articles on a particular topic. It might be something simple like a single disease, or it might be something more complex like a series of diseases. For example, it could be Colon Cancer or it could be a page about all different kinds of cancers. I have not decided entirely yet, but I think I might start with a Health site. I love medicine, hence the reason I am going into it. Anyways…I better get going. The girlfriend wants me to come over and I would like to spend some time with her. Stay tuned for the start of my first site, hopefully, in the next two weeks or so. See you around.

Eureka! I have an idea!

Network 1 Comment »

Today was not the most productive day I have had, but it did have its great perk. Before I do get into detail about what made it have its great perk, let me discuss one thing. Being a college student can be an amazing thing, but in the same breath, it can be horribly boring and tiring. Next week, I have a pre-lab due, along with two lab reports. Then I have a research paper due on the following Monday. You can bet that I’ll be having tons of late nights and exhausting mornings. However, I will say this. No matter what, you should go to college. I find that a college education is incredibly important because knowledge is power. You could have all the money in the world, but knowledge can always help you get around that money. That is why I am a firm believer that everyone should get a nice, round liberal arts degree. My college demands that I have some history and some English along with my math and science. They want me to be a well rounded individual and I believe that an education like that really makes our society so much better than tons of money. Yet again…Here I am trying to make a lot of money…Anyways, onto my business side.

I am a firm believer that the internet is tomorrow. There will always be hard bound books and magazines, but I believe that the internet will be the new age entirely. We have e-books, e-zines and websites where you can get unlimited information for free. Well, unless you consider the option to click on a Google adsense ad as some form of payment. Why would anyone want to buy a book when they could just get it online? So, I was talking to my best friend that is a PR major and suddenly, an amazing idea came to me. If the future is the internet, then won’t jobs that are usually done for print and broadcast follow to the internet as well? So, I suddenly thought about a way to make money using the vast knowledge that my friend has. She’s a natural sales person and she knows her trade well. She’s never done a website for content purposes and I know little about public relations. Maybe our knowledge together could make money. I’d front the necessary capital and she’d write the necessary material. We’d split the profits evenly and it might really make for some enjoyable experiences.

I suppose you can say that these first few days of my quest to medical school have been brainstorming. It is boring and I am surprised I can form as many words as I do for my blog, but it is an extremely important part of forming a business. I consider this network of sites that I will put together a business. Because of that, I know that I need to put together a very detailed outline of what I want to do. Yesterday I thought about those two ideas that could include viral marketing and affiliate ads and today I have the idea about this small network of sites within a network. I really do think that the PR sites could make money. I won’t go into too much detail, but I really have an idea that if these sites are marketed correctly (what an ironic term “marketed”) then they could make a nice return for the investments. It’ll take time, but maybe Holiday Break will play a great part in the growth of the network. And then of course, maybe an e-book could appear from this information. Stay tuned for updates on the sites I plan to make and updates on sites I have made. Thanks for reading!

Well, I have a few ideas tossing and turning in my mind…

Network No Comments »

Day two of my blog. One comment by my mate Aaron. That’s pretty cool. People will read my blog and hopefully be intrigued by my little idea and come back every day to see the updates. I think about my post all day. For example, today I went to the Museum of Natural History in Manhattan with ACS (The American Chemical Society) chapter in my school. I went and all day I was thinking about what I could write about in my blog. I could write about what I saw in the museum, but I figure if you all cared about that, you’d head over to Manhattan to check it out. But I have to say that it was really interested. I saw a lot of things that I did not know and a lot of things were interesting. I saw an animal that was over a double the size of me (I am 6’2) and yet its femur is not even a foot long. Our femur is the bone below the hip and above the knee. It intrigued me at the shape in bone sizes. Anyways…I really don’t think you want to hear about the Museum trip.

I suppose you all would probably like to know a few projects that I have in mind. I thought that I would start off with a few content sites. The topics I have not decided upon entirely, but when I do get the sites set up, I will be sure to post them here. I have a plan to set up a site that will include a whole set of different things. It’ll have Adsense on it to allow for some nice income generating. Then, to allow the site more coverage, I will include a little viral marketing and incorporate a petition based on the site’s topic. The other site idea that I have, I will use the Adsense, per usual, and then I will use an affiliate program. The topic could make a lot of money from sales, so it’ll be good to have. They always said that you should have more than one form of profit. If you have only one, then you won’t make very much money. They say to put your bread in numerous baskets…Or maybe it’s, ‘don’t put your bread in one basket.’ Or…Something like that. Either way, the idea should work out for me with the right publicity.

And wonderful! As I write this blog post, I have a new idea. It has to do with e-books, but not those cheap little e-book sites that sell the same e-book on about fifty different sites. I will talk to some friends of mine and maybe you’ll see a site that sells unique stuff. And none of this $.99 crap. We’re talking real good prices that plan to make money. I love writing this blog…It throws tons of ideas out for me. I must say, it is really quite an enjoyable thing. Hell, I could probably write a few e-books of my own. I’ve done paid posting, I’ve run forums and now I am hopping into the content world. Maybe I’ll learn something so amazing, so powerful, that I could write an e-book, sell it for $30 bucks and sell a thousand copies! Then! I would have…$30,000. We can dream, anyways. For now, I will stick to this blog and the ideas that I have been formulating over the past few weeks. Stay tuned for more information that comes.

My Introduction

Personal Life 1 Comment »

A blog…I must say that I am pleasantly pleased in this blog. I decided about a week ago with the help of a friend that I should make a blog detailing my journey from my freshman year in undergraduate biology to when I started my first day of medical school. However, it wasn’t just going to be about my four years in college. The specific purpose of the blog was to detail my journey in somehow paying for medical school. You see…Doctors make a great amount of money, but they only make that much because they have to pay so much. Okay, maybe that’s not a true statement, but either way, it’s a lot of money to become a doctor. So, I thought to myself…Why not try and make enough money to pay for medical school before I even got there? And then it hit me.

I always was trying to find ways to make money online. I started with some forums, checked out Paid Posting and did below average on that and finally decided that I was going to do content writing. The content writing lasted for a short amount of time because I soon realized something. I was getting paid average for an article and the purchaser of that article was walking away making so much more. So I said to myself, “Jacob, you could be making that much money.” And that started my quest. That simple sentence, I do believe, might change my future forever.

So, who am I? I’m Jacob Cohen-Donnelly and I am a freshman in college majoring in biology/pre-med. It’s a hard field, as was to be expected, but it is enjoyable none the less. I invite you to join my journey. Over the next four years, I will build websites, I will write articles, I will grow in wealth and hopefully, when I graduate from my undergraduate college, have made enough money or earn enough money each year, to pay for medical school. Join me in my journey and walk step by step as I go from zero to medical.

Enjoy!
